Malee TANPONKRAI, who is 12 years old, lives in a remote country village called Lakh Sila in Chaiyaphum province. She has been living with great difficulty as she has a cleft palate and it is quite difficult for others to understand what she says when she speaks. Due to a lack of work in the area, her parents have gone to work as construction workers in Bangkok. She lives with her grandparents, brother who is in grade 7, and her two young school-age cousins in less than ideal conditions.

When I walked my way along to the house of EAM Phun, an 11 year old girl student at Ang Serey Primary School, Kompong Tralach district, Kampong Chhnang province, Cambodia, the first thing that I noticed is the curiosity of the nearby children about what I was doing. They stormed behind me, and talked each other about the picture which I had just taken. They said โ€œI saw Phun in the camera, I saw Phun in the Camera.โ€ I can assume that they rarely see a digital camera, even though they live in a province which is less than a hundred kilometers from Phnom Penh, the Capital of Cambodia.

Supansa Laogerm was born as the youngest member of the family. Her elder brother is now a construction worker in the south after completing Grade 9. Currently she lives with her 72-year-old grandfather and 60-year-old grandmother in Chompoopan Village in Sakon Nakhon province. Her grandmother is blind in both eyes and is confined to a wheelchair. Her parents passed away in a car accident while on their way to work when she was in grade 9. Her mentally handicapped aunt and physicall disable uncle are the only wager earners in her family.
